I chose to make a Prezi presentation for my Independent Learning Project, so I picked the topic of how Alaska became a US state because it is something I am interested in and also it is relevant to topics I will most likely be teaching in the future as a Social Science teacher.

I have enjoyed using twitter for this class. It has served as an easy way to communicate my thoughts about different assignments and topics from the class, as well as to see what kind of things my classmates are saying, as well. I have learned a lot of things from using twitter, especially from the pages that I have followed because I have read some amazing stories, seen good resources, and learned about a large variety different technologies. The benefits are that it's very quick and easy to use, as well as very easy to access for a large variety of students. There is a large variety of adaptive technologies available for the used of teachers, educators, workplaces, and other places where they would be helpful with dealing with people who have disabilities; in this case, students. Some examples of adaptive technologies available in schools are Digital recording softwares for recording lessons, which are helpful for students with learning disabilities, Zoomtext keyboards for the visually impaired, and Smartnav, for more physically impaired individuals. As discussed in the chapter and the podcast, these different adaptive technologies can be used to assist students by making their complications less debilitating in the classroom, maximizing their potential to learn for conforming to their specific disabilities, and providing them with the best opportunities to succeed. Throughout my high school career, Microsoft Word was essentially the holy grail of all things school-work related. Writing requirements were a part of the curriculum in every class at my high school, including math and science, so all of my teachers were very fond of this easy-to-access program that kept us all conveniently identical in the software we used. Therefore, I was always using MS Word for a variety of assignments, essays, short answer responses, short store, etc. Additionally, it was the go-to for lectures and sent-out information that all of my teachers used. One specific program that I was involved in while in high school was the Capstone program, which consisted of 2 classes (one per year) that were specifically geared towards research projects and research papers.
